Jaana Husu-Kallio to continue in the Management Board of EFSA

Jaana Husu-Kallio, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland, has been appointed to a second four-year term in the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority EFSA. The appointment took place at the meeting of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council EPSCO on 16–17 June 2016.

Jaana Husu-Kallio’s second term starts on 1 July 2016. She has been a member in the board since 2012 and vice-chair since 2014.

– EFSA is an extremely important institution for the EU consumers. I have had the honour of being involved in its development for several years now, and I am very happy to continue this important work on securing food safety, also on the EU level, says Jaana Husu-Kallio.

The task of the Management Board of EFSA is to ensure that the Authority functions effectively and efficiently. The board establishes EFSA’ budget and work programmes, monitors their implementation and decides on the internal rules and regulations. The board also appoints the Executive Director and members of the Scientific Committee and the Scientific Panels.
