Press release

Minister of Agriculture and the Environment of Finland Kimmo Tiilikainen, accompanied by a business delegation, will visit Korea on 9-11 March. The purpose of the Team Finland visit is to give the Finnish bioeconomy and food companies the opportunity to learn about the Korean markets and to promote trade between the two countries.

The business delegation in the Republic of Korea is composed of 13 Finnish enterprises. Besides the brewery and meat industries there are also representatives from startup companies in the bioeconomy sector that use forest biomass as raw material and develop and commercialise new technologies and products based on Finnish innovations.

In Seoul Minister Tiilikainen meets the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of Korea Mr. Kim Jae-Soo and in Minister of Food and Drug Safety Mr. Sohn Mungi. On the agenda in the discussions is food safety. Minister Tiilikainen will also bring greetings to a seminar presenting Finnish meat and brewery products.

Korea is one of the most important trade partners for Finland outside the EU. For a long time Finland has exported, for example, forest and shipyard industry products to Korea. Now growth is also sought in high-value added foods and beverages and expertise in the bioeconomy and circular economy sectors.
