Fishing restrictions and management of fish resources

The so-called common fishing rights comprise angling, jigging, ice fishing and lure fishing subject to the fisheries management fee. However, even these types of fishing are subject to certain restrictions; for example, there are numerous different kinds of prohibited areas where these may not be practised.

In addition to fishing authorities, fishing may be restricted by, for instance, the Regional Environment Centres under the Nature Conservation Act.

Angling, jigging, ice fishing and lure fishing prohibitions

Under section 54 of the Fishing Act, the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment may prohibit fishing based on the common fishing rights in specific areas. Decisions concerning such prohibited areas and the related maps are available from the fisheries units of the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.
