EU-funded information provision and promotion measures
The EU-funded information provision and promotion programmes concerning agricultural products are one to three-year campaigns targeted to the internal market or third countries. The aim is to enhance citizens’ knowledge of the products, increase product sales and open up markets for agricultural products outside Europe.
The legislation concerning the sales promotion policy of the EU has been amended, with the new rules being applicable from 1 December 2015. The Commission and the agency subordinate to it are still responsible for the application process.
The EU’s financial contribution is 70–80 per cent of the costs of the programme, depending on the number of participating countries and the markets to be targeted by the programme. The proposing organisation may be an association representing the product category or categories or an organisation specialised in a certain sector.
The Finnish Agency for Rural Affairs is still responsible for making the support payments in programmes where the proposing organisation is a Finnish operator alone.
