Food Contact Materials
Food contact materials (FCM) are all materials and articles that are intended to come into contact with foodstuffs or are already in contact with foodstuffs and were intended for that purpose. Rules and regulations cover both direct and indirect contact. The framework regulation and acts on good manufacturing practices apply to all materials and articles. Material-specific legislation has been adopted for certain materials and manufacturing processes, such as plastics, ceramics and recycled plastics.
