Strategies and management plans

Management plans are an essential part of the Finnish Wildlife Consortium’s strategy and key tools in implementing game policy. The objective of management plans is to reconcile the views of different stakeholders concerning the management and protection of game animal populations. Management plans are always based on reliable, up-to-date information on a specific animal species’ biology and ecological needs. The plans enable the long-term, goal-oriented management of game animal populations.

Management plans concerning specific species or species groups take into account the special population management needs of each species at the local and national level. The plans include all measures that are essential for the management of each population. The plans are a way of fulfilling Finland’s international obligations to protect different species.
