Iranian Minister of Agriculture to visit Finland

Mahmoud Hojjati, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Iran, will visit Finland on 12–13 September together with his delegation. The official delegation comprises around ten persons and includes two vice ministers and a member of parliament. Furthermore, Minister Hojjati will be accompanied by a business delegation.

The purpose of the visit is to develop the bilateral relations between the countries and to explore cooperation possibilities in the field of agriculture and forestry. For a longer time, Finland and Iran have been engaged in cooperation in the field of education and research, and this cooperation is being developed further.

In their meeting, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Jari Leppä and the Iranian Minister Mahmoud Hojjati will sign memorandums of understanding between the countries concerning animal and plant health, education and research, and the water sector, for example. Cooperation possibilities between Finland and Iran in the livestock sector and in the fields of agricultural engineering, forestry, and fish farming will be discussed in an afternoon seminar to be held in connection with the visit.

Minister Hojjati will spend the second day of his visit to Finland in the countryside of South Häme to learn about the Finnish sawmill industry, sustainable forestry, water resources management, and vocational education and training in the field agriculture and food economy.
