Minister of Agriculture and the Environment Tiilikainen visits Japan with President Niinistö

President of Finland Sauli Niinistö is on an official visit to Japan on 7-11 March 2016. Minister Tiilikainen, the representative of the Finnish Government and head of the business delegation, flies to Japan on 8 March. The business delegation is composed of representatives of the forest industry, energy, ICT and infrastructure sectors and experts on arctic affairs.

Minister Tiilikainen and the business delegation will join the President and his delegation to meet Prime Minister Abe and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hayashi.  At bilateral meetings Minister Tiilikainen and the business delegation will have talks with State Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ito, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Environment Oniki and State Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Matsushita.  On the agenda there is also a seminar on the strategic partnership between Finland and Japan, organised in collaboration with the Japanese Parliament.

The topics to be discussed by Minister Tiilikainen include the bilateral relationship and opportunities for cooperation between Finland and Japan, free trade agreement between the EU and Japan, and questions relating to bioeconomy and clean solutions, agriculture and rural development, climate change and arctic cooperation.
