Government report on food safety

In accordance with a government resolution adopted in 2003, the government must submit a report on food safety to the Parliament once during each electoral period, assessing the state and development of food safety in Finland from the perspective of the whole food chain. The purpose of the reporting process is to examine the key objectives of national food safety measures at the political level.

The report presents an overview of the present status of food safety, highlighting challenges facing food safety in the foreseeable future. Future challenges are grouped under three main headings: globalisation, networked-based food chain and nutrition.
