The Finnish Bioeconomy Strategy

Bioeconomy uses renewable resources to produce food, energy, nutrients, products and services. It reduces our dependence on fossil fuels. Bioeconomy enables green growth and the creation of jobs.

Business activities in bioeconomy recycle and utilise raw materials in diverse ways. Bioeconomy connects many fields, crossing traditional boundaries in new and often innovative ways. The material flows generated in product manufacturing processes are utilised in other products. That minimises the loss of raw materials and energy.

Finland has its own bioeconomy strategy. The Finnish Bioeconomy Strategy was drawn up by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, and the Ministry of the Environment.

The Finnish Bioeconomy Strategy was initially published in 2014. An updated version of the strategy was published in 2022.
