Promoting food exports
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry participates in export promotion activities within its branch of administration through the Team Finland network. The network brings together all operators promoting Finland’s external economic relations, the internationalisation of businesses, investments in Finland and Finland’s country brand in Finland and abroad. The aim is to create a clear and customer-oriented operating model with different operators working together, under one umbrella. The common objectives guiding all operators are defined each year by the Government.
The national food sector export programme “Food from Finland” was launched in September 2014 to boost the promotion of food exports. In addition to food sector enterprises and the Finnish Food and Drink Industries’ Federation (ETL), key operators in the programme include the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, Finpro, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Food Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry also provides funding for food-related information and promotion projects. Some of the projects are partly funded by the EU and others fully funded by domestic state aid.
