Wetlands improve breeding success

This part of the project is implemented by the Finnish Wildlife Agency. A particular focus is on cooperation with landowners to establish wetlands that improve breeding success.

The Kotiseutukosteikko Life project of the Finnish Wildlife Agency serves as a good model of a cost-efficient way to build and restore high-quality habitats suitable even for the demanding waterfowl species.

For example, in former peat production sites there may be large areas that are suitable for waterfowl without slow permit procedures and expensive excavation operations.
