Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as a workplace

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry works to ensure domestic food production and the sustainable use of renewable natural resources and create the preconditions for economic activities and wellbeing derived from these. The ministry has 270 employees representing many different fields and educational backgrounds. The most common job titles include Senior Specialist, Chief Specialist, Ministerial Adviser and Administrative Assistant. The majority of the ministry’s staff have a permanent employment relationship.

Expert organisation

Many of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s tasks are related to legislative drafting, guidance of the administrative branch and EU and international cooperation. Our expert tasks are highly diverse, and they offer excellent opportunities to develop one’s professional skills.

The experts working at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry also have the opportunity to develop their skills in EU tasks by applying for a job in European Union Institutions as a Seconded National Expert (SNE) or to participate in the European Commission’s exchange programmes, such as the National Experts in Professional Training (NEPT).
