Damage to forest

Damage to forest means damage to forest and forest reproductive material caused by a cervid. Compensation should be applied for without delay after having noticed the damage. The Finnish Forest Centre assesses the damage within three years from its occurrence. Application forms are available from forest management associations, the Forest Centre and the internet.

In the case of damage to forest caused by a cervid, compensation may be paid for the financial losses caused by a significant reduction in the value of the forest reproductive material, a significant reduction in the value of a seedling stand or a semi-mature stand, and the necessary supplementary seeding or planting or the reforestation of the damaged area.
