New measures to boost Finnish food exports
The Finnish Government has made progress on its objective of doubling food exports by 2031. Business Finland’s foreign operations related to export promotion will be integrated into the structures of the Foreign Service, creating new opportunities to boost food exports through enhanced cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
This week, the ministries signed a cooperation agreement to support this goal. Under the agreement, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry undertakes to finance measures in
target countries in 2026–2027 to facilitate market access for Finnish companies and thereby strengthen their presence in target markets, as outlined in the plan appended to the agreement.
These measures include organising networking and buyer events, leveraging the prestige services while organising these events and conducting programmes for company and delegation visits. Furthermore, the active exploration of market opportunities will be promoted.
The target countries selected from Europe are Germany, Sweden, France, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK (food technology) and those selected from Asia are China, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Thailand (food technology). The other target countries are the United States (food technology) and the United Arab Emirates.
