Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry congratulates Mari Walls
Search for a new Director General of Luke starts in summer
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry congratulates Mari Walls, Director General of the Natural Resources Institute Finland Luke, for the appointment as the President of the new Tampere University.
– We thank Mari Walls for the job well done in building the Natural Resources Institute Finland, says Jaana Husu-Kallio, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Walls started as Director General of Luke in January 2015, and since then she has been a major driving force in the development of its practices, image and culture.
– It was not an easy job. There were serious challenges, also because adjustments in the operations were needed due to the savings in sectoral research”, Husu-Kallio says.
Juha Mäntylä, chairman of Luke’s Board of Trustees, also wishes to thank Walls for her excellent performance.
– Over the past three years there have been quite dramatic changes, both in the operations and financially. We wish Mari Walls the best of luck with her new challenges.
Mari Walls continues as Director General of Luke until 13 August 2018.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will start the application process for a new Director General in summer. The Ministry will propose a candidate to be appointed by the Government of Finland in the autumn.
– The groundwork has now been done and the new Director General will then continue the work for the benefit of Luke, Jaana Husu-Kallio says.
