Description
Kesto: 2020-2022
This research provides new information on the financial effects of fertilization and negative impacts of peatland forestry on surface waters (due to ditch network maintenance) regarding even-aged forests. Then, the research tackles with uneven-aged management on peatland forests by studying the conditions (e.g. stand structure, soil type, climatic region) favorable for sustainable and profitable stand management. Currently, such knowledge is absent in boreal forests. Further, the research estimates the financial impacts of carbon sequestration and diminishing sediment and nutrient load to water courses reputedly associated with uneven-aged management. Finally, the results are straight-forwardly applicable for practical forestry.
