New Board to Natural Resources Institute Finland

On 2 November 2023, the Government appointed the new Board for the Natural Resources Institute Finland for the term 1 January 2024–31 December 2026. The Board is chaired by Executive Vice President Tuomas Salusjärvi and the vice chair is Saara Kankaanrinta, climate advocate and the co-founder of the Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG) Foundation.

The task of the Board is to support the management of the Natural Resources Institute Finland, present initiatives for the strategic guidance of the operations and promote cooperation with stakeholders. The Board of the Natural Resources Institute Finland decides on the budget proposal of the Institute, approval of the financial statement, and other matters that are far-reaching or fundamentally important for the Natural Resources Institute Finland which the President and CEO or the chair of the Board wish to bring to the Board.

Composition of the Board:

Chair: Executive Vice President Tuomas Salusjärvi, Valio
Vice chair:  Saara Kankaanrinta, climate advocate and the co-founder of BSAG Foundation

Members:
Vice President Sauli Brander, UPM-Kymmene
Journalist and Presenter Mikko Peltola, Yle
Director Annika Wilhelmsson, Viking Malt
Executive Vice President Riikka Joukio, Kesko

Besides these, the Board has one member elected from among the staff.
