Basic payment decoupled from production

The basic condition for receiving the basic payment is that the applicant must hold owned or leased-in payment entitlements. The payment is paid on the basis of the area of farm land, in accordance with the payment entitlements. One payment entitlement entitles its holder to a basic payment for one hectare. In the AB support area in Southern Finland the basic payment is €123 and in the C support area in Northern Finland €110 per hectare. If necessary, the support levels may be redefined and fixed with a government decree before the payments are paid at the end of the year when the total area of land entitled to basic payment is known.
