Press release

During this autumn, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will organise a series of bioeconomy forums, which are to be held as webinars. The cooperation partners in organising the forums include the Regional Councils and other stakeholders in the regions. The forums are open to all, and they are part of the ongoing process to update the Biodiversity Strategy.

The objective of the updated Bioeconomy Strategy is that the Finnish bioeconomy will create new products and services that drive economic growth and employment while promoting the transition to a carbon neutral society. Another aim is to promote the circular economy as part of the bioeconomy. The events are hoped to bring forth the views of different stakeholders on the potential success factors associated with the bioeconomy from the perspective of the regions and how we could boost their development.

In different parts of Finland there are significant strengths, expertise and experiences in the sustainable use of natural resources and increasing the added value created from these. Stakeholders from the Central Ostrobothnia region are invited to the first forum that will be held on 30 September 2020. Please use this link to register.

Later in the autumn there will be similar events for North Karelia, Central Finland, Lapland, South Savo and Southwest Finland. A joint event will be organised for stakeholders in the Päijät-Häme and South Karelia regions.
